The Festival Bar morphs from a lounge on weekdays, cozy as your grandma's living room, to a surreal club party on weekends. It’s your once-a-year, ultra-hip-coutry-lodge-backwoods-Pennsylvania-taxidermy-antlers-yellowed-couch-doily-make-out-lounge. Grab a beer, a glass of wine, or a pretty looking cocktail, and kick back for a movie screening or rev it up on the dance floor. Let loose at the end of each Festival day with Festival artists, techies, and fellow show-goers. Mix it up till late-every night is a party.
VJ Yakov projects his special blend of found footage, Super 8, and 80s commercials all over the Festival Bar walls and a special network of screens.
Sarah Jacoby curates a host of video footage, (think MTV’s
120 Minutes), cult films, and music documentaries along with showcasing the work of video artists
Brandon Watz and Lennon Michalski, Artie Vierkant, Nick Salvatore, Wendy Jane Hyatt, Austin Lee, Sarah Jacoby, and
Lindsay Kovnat.
Philadelphia Open Studio Tours outfits the Bar with art installations straight from the studios of Philly artists.
Laureen Griffin creates a painted expanse of wallpaper in support of her
Gender Portraiture Project while
Marisha Simons prints imagery onto large fabric panels that are hung about the space to create new environments.
Darla Jackson’s striking sculptures of animals, torsos, and heads invade the bar and
gdloft brings a neo-POP poster and T-shirt installation based on de-contextualized Madonna lyrics.
Keep your peepers peeled for Laureen’s Philly Fringe show,
Emma’s Parlour and the hundreds of open studios coming up in POST in October!
Every night the music helps you indulge in your rock 'n' roll lifestyle. On Thursday, Friday, and Saturday nights Philly's best DJs turn the raucous party into a dance riot. Guest DJs include opening night with DJ Lee Jones, Broadzilla DJs, Robotique DJs, DJ Apt One, Dave Tat and Jeff Fry.
